You are almost ready to get reverse mortgage quotes from the lenders that you found in the previous step "Lenders - Step 4" ! You will need to contact at least three to adequately compare the costs. We suggest calling for a quote rather than e-mailing or doing a website submittal.

If you have questions that you wrote down in "Information -Step 4" or have new questions, have them ready before you call.

It's OK to ask each lender the same questions. Their answers will give you a good idea of their expertise in Reverse Mortgages.

Most lenders will quickly e-mail you a quote back. Always ask them to follow up with a mailed quote. Take note how long it takes to get a quote back from each lender.

On a piece of paper list your questions from above and the following suggested questions for each lender:

  • Are you licensed in my state?
  • How many days do you take to process a loan?
  • Are you a member of NRMLA (National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association) or the BBB (Better Business Bureau)?
  • Any other Reverse Mortgage Questions you have at this point?
